Abstracts
The term "Abstract" covers a broad range in painting. It can be a subject based on nature, imagination, or anything in between. It stimulates the viewer to use their imagination to categorize or complete the picture and involves color, form, line, and composition.
Apart from my normal life I’ve always been an enthusiast of art and photography. I began with drawing, became proficient at calligraphy, veered off into woodworking for awhile, and after a few years I began to focus on watercolors. At times it has been a struggle. I can’t compare it to any other medium; I have little or no experience with oils or acrylics. But watercolors present their own challenges. I often know where I want the paint to go and it refuses to cooperate. At other times things just seem to come together, and those are the rewarding moments. The artists that enthuse me the most are Mary Rollins, Jean Haines, and Shirley Trevena, abstract artist Rolina van Vliet, along with Classical Masters: Degas, Michelangelo, Rubens. Their work has taught me how much easier it is to paint once one knows how to draw.. I invite you to explore this world with me. I believe we live to enjoy and glorify God, and our artwork can reflect that purpose. I’m convinced that as you begin to look, you will start to see!
